Mission to Peru

A couple years ago, the Lord called my friend, Ruthie, to South America. He has given her an amazing heart for street kids. She started out in Bolivia working with orphans and street kids there. The Lord has since lead her into Lima, Peru where there is a great need for homes for street children. Ruthie's vision for Lima is heart touching. It has been wonderful to sit back and watch God guide and direct her steps. She is just getting off the ground in Lima and expects to take 5 years before she will see the first home open.
Me & Ruthie!
Ruthie is a self supported missionary. She comes to the states, works long enough to save some money to support herself then returns for as long as she can. Typically she is overseas for spans of 4-6 months. This next trip over she plans to stay in Peru for a year working among the street girls who prostitute themselves for a lively hood. She will be sharing Jesus with these girls and working with them to get them off the streets and out of the lifestyle they are in.
In January 2009, a small group of us will be traveling to Lima to work with Ruthie. We are the first group going with her into Lima. We are praying the Lord will open the doors for us to spread His good news among the kids, preach in the square and reach more girls for Ruthie's ministry. I am very excited to see how God is going to work in all of our lives.
Destination: Lima, Peru

We have 4 more months before we go. Four months of praying and preparation! We are asking that as friends and family think of us, please pray! So far there are only four of us committed to going. We hope to see our group reach a size of 7-8. We'd like to stay small on this trip, as it is our first trip over there and we are trying to get a feel for what needs to take place so that we can send more groups to Lima in the future!
Meet our team: Allison, Travis and Jim
So for now, if you think of it, please pray for Ruthie, myself, Allison, Travis and Jim. We are seeking the Lord for the funds to go and 3 to 4 more people with a heart for this mission to join our team!
