Freedom Weekend
BLESSING! The first word that comes to my mind! This weekend was huge in my life. As you know from my previous post I didn't have plans to be part of this weekend. Funny thing about making your own plans...just when you think you have it all worked out, God decides otherwise.
This year our focus was "Selfless". Interesting topic - seeing as I had to surrender my own plans and self will just to be a part of this outreach to our youth.
I ended up with 9 middle/high school girls all weekend. Between sessions at church and late nights at home, boy talks, giggle time, sharing and growing in our relationship with Christ together, my weekend was blessed!
The thing I love about working in ministry is just when you think you are there to be a blessing to others, the Lord swaps it around and you end up walking away being more blessed yourself!
God taught me an important lesson this weekend about availability = selflessness = being right where God needs you. I thought I was just filling in a gap when I surrendered and told the Lord I was willing to lay aside my own plans at the last minute and go where he wanted me. What I didn't realize at the time was that he would give me the joy of being able to lead two highschoolers to Christ!
