Back Updates
Saturday morning my back decided to remind me just how ungrateful it is that I herniated a disk 6 years ago. There is always a certain level of discomfort that over time you just learn to live with, but it hasn't been this bad since the original injury. I'm not exactly sure what I did, but I ended up on the couch with ice packs, heat, LOTS of Advil and barely able to move for the weekend.
I went to my primary care Dr. yesterday and he gave me some great anti-inflammatory, muscle relaxers and told me to get back on track with a palates routine to rebuild and strengthen lower abdominal muscles once I'm feeling better. If I don't improve over the next couple of days I should go to physical therapy and come see him next week. I don't think I'll need to do that as I am improving more and more each day.
Today I have a lot more mobility and minimal discomfort. I still can feel a nerve pinching in my lower back, but it's not running down my leg anymore which means, I'm on the mend and the inflammation is going down! I think in a couple more days I'll be back to my old self. Just being a little more mindful of staying physically fit so that I don't relapse again.
