Introducing....

My Sweetheart!
Shaun (isn't he a cutie?)
Many of you have asked what our story is, how we met, where he's from and all the millions of questions that go along with "I'm in a relationship"... so, here goes!
Shaun and I met on eHarmony earlier this summer. After working our way through the initial check in the box questions and answers we finally reached open communication and he sent the first email. I was pleasantly surprised at what he had written and how much we seemed to have in common. We both grew up in the same hometown probably not more than 10 minutes apart. I wrote him back and over the next several days we swapped many volumes and out wrote the character limit that eHarmony allowed for and had to send our communication in multiple emails at a time.
I was really hoping he would ask to meet and to my surprise he did. He asked to call me first to set everything up and still being ever so hopeful yet, somewhat skeptical I asked for his last name before he called me. He promptly replied with a "Feel free to facebook/Google/cyber stalk me!" and I took him up on the offer. =) Again I was pleasantly surprised when my stalking revealed that he and I had a mutual childhood friend! He called the next day and what seemed like only moments later our date was set. I hung up the phone and out of curiosity went back to see how long we had chatted....a solid hour and half! And I think that's when I realized, I might be onto something here.
The next 4 days DRUG by. I was excited and nervous. In fact so nervous that when I pulled into the parking lot to meet him for the first time, I kept driving to try to calm my nerves down a bit and ended up being five minutes late. My first glimpse of him sitting on the park bench outside of our date spot and I knew I'd met a handsome one! Three hours later I figured I should probably head home since it was after 11pm. He asked to see me again and I already knew that he was something special.
So here we are a little later into our summer, and he grows more and more special each day. We've made many more common discoveries like, our parents live in the same neighborhood back home, we actually would have lived in the same neighborhood at the same time for about 6 months before he left for college, we have discovered many other random connections and people we both know. Our world just grows smaller and smaller! I'm still constantly amazed at who he is, his character and his love for the Lord. I've found myself saying over and over, "I didn't really think that men like him still existed!" Why God has decided to be so good to me, I don't know..but yes, I'm a very blessed woman!

  1. If this was Facebook I would "like" this, but since I don't have that option, I'll just tell you. I like this! I'm very happy for you and Shaun.

  3. Ok, so I'm the Mom, and I have to tell you, Rebecca, that your brief story brought tears to my eyes. There is nothing I have ever wanted more than to see my children grow up successful, and Happy in everything they do.
I think that you just may be what every Mom wants for her Son. I am Happy for Both of You, and I am sincerely hoping that you and Shaun continue down the same path. It has taken me a lifetime to fine my true Love and happiness, I prayed that my Children would not have to wait that long. I am Happy for you Both, and am so looking forward to meeting you!
    Mary
