The Runaways!
A couple weekends ago two of my brother's children decided that it would be fun to run away from home at 11:30 pm. to buy silly bands. Yes, you heard me. Silly bands. Midnight. Kids running away. FOR FUN. What in this world!?!?
My brother found them missing from there beds about 11:30 and after a quick search of the house and no kids, he got his wife up to come and help. Another search of the house and still NO kids, they decide to wake up the neighbors. No one had seen or heard from them. (Because most sane children are soundly asleep in their beds at midnight) My brother calls 911 and the search is on.
An hour later the police finally found the kids toddling up the road about a mile from home. They had a little bag packed with graham crackers, a piggy bank, swim suits (you just never know when you might want a quick dip) and every silly band they own. When questioned about where they were headed, they sweetly replied that "They were just out for a walk." (at midnight???)
When my brother arrived to pick them up from the officer he asked for a little bit of help from the law to scare his kids into staying home. The officer was oh so kind enough to comply and told the kids, "If I ever catch you running away from home again, I'm going to arrest you, take you to jail and confiscate all your silly bands!" Needless to say, I doubt those two trouble makers will have a run in with the law again any time soon.
When Michael asked what the heck the kids were thinking, his adorable curly blonde daughter replied, "But Dad, we were going to come home in the morning!"

Oh my goodness! That is a parent's worst nightmare. I think I would have died literally.
ReplyDeleteBahahaha...SO funny after the fact, but poor parents! But, hey you can't blame the kiddos, those darn silly bands are addictive!
