What's Up - That's What's Up
So, what's up in our household? Hmmm, where to start?
Shaun and I are still settling into our home. I am starting to think that settled is a different matter all together from organizing and setting up house because at this rate, it's going to be the rest of forever before I'm done and even then there will be things to do. So, I guess you can consider us settled. We have established somewhat of a routine. Scratch that. We like to pretend we have but dinner is still served anywhere from 7:30-9:00, sometimes we do the chores we are supposed to do and sometimes we just completely ignore them and opt to spend time together. I guess the most important thing is that we are happy. Happier than we've ever been!
I've taken up a couple of new hobbies since we tied the knot. My new favorite past times (other than Shaun of course) are Craigslist and trying my hand at being Martha Stewart. *ahem* Emphasis on TRYing. Even Shaun has taken up a new liking of CL since I saved him $500 on a Pottery Barn table. *BIG GRINS HERE* He now shows me links and offers suggestions quite frequently. My first few projects are a book wreath and spray painting table lamps. I'll post pictures soon so all of you can see the progression of said projects.
Fall is coming. Of course today makes me feel like a liar, but it IS coming. The sun rises later and sets sooner and some mornings there is a bit of promising coolness in the air. I even wore a light sweater one day last week.
We went to our first GT game. YAhooo! We are so excited that season is back! We love tailgating with all our friends and what better way to pass Saturdays in the fall than to be outside watching some great sports and enjoying beautiful weather.
My back is doing a ton better. Still not 100%. Of course it never will be 100% again, but that won't stop me. =) I'm running again. YES! I did 1 full mile last week. I nearly died in the process and stopped twice... Ok, so maybe I can't say I ran a full mile. None the less, it was the most exercise I've had since before our wedding. So not too shabby for 3 months of no cardio and a back injury. I think Shaun must have been a Drill Sargent in a previous life. A really sweet one though. (if that's possible) He keeps me on my toes, tries to keep me from wimping out during the run and sweetly encourages as we go. He runs with me ever so patiently and when I've killed over in our front lawn from my snails paced sprint, he gives me a quick peck and is then off like lightning for 2 more miles. He disgusts me and I love him!

The only time you're done with decorating and organizing is when you're dead. Enjoy the process. =)
ReplyDeleteIf I had it to do over again, I would redecorate, renovate, whatever one room or one area every year. That way everything wouldn't be old and dated at the same time.
Last piece of motherly (albeit unsolicited) advice: Watch that running with a bad back. The orthopedic surgeon we took Blake to years ago for his back was a younger guy (mid-30s?) and very fit (not bulked up, just looked fit). He said he was a life-long runner UNTIL he did an orthopedic rotation in med school. When he saw what it did to the back, hips, and knees of people, he quit completely. Run with care and caution!
XO!
