A New Venture

My Beginnings - Yes, I am officially a Mary Kay consultant! As you are all well aware, I've been job hunting for a while and this isn't exactly the market to just get hired in. So, one day out of the blue, my sweet friend Allison calls me. She's super excited about her new business and she wants me to listen to a marketing call that explains why she's so excited. So, I did. Next thing I knew I was excited too! I started thinking...."Hey, no one is hiring me, so why NOT sell Mary Kay." Everyone I know washes their face with something, wears some kind of color product or at the very least washes their body with some kind of body wash.....so, I joined.

Hesitations - And so it goes that the start of anything brings mixed emotions. My first thought was, "Great, my friends are going to see me as the lipstick lady." But the great thing about being an Independent Consultant is that I can be as pushy or NOT as pushy as I want. I opt to not be pushy. I tell everyone, "Look if you have ZERO money, you hate Mary Kay, or just aren't interested...that is absolutely fine! No will never hurt my feelings." People have told me no and I hope with no anxiety over it. I love honesty and it's just better for all parties involved.

18 Days Later - I've learned a lot. I've made a handful of sales. People have said yes, people have said no. I'm ok with that.

Facials - I actually LOVE giving custom beauty appointments and helping women feel beautiful. Honestly, I don't actually expect anyone to ever buy anything from me. It's just fun watching the transformation of someone who feels ho hum about herself and all the sudden sees her make over face in the mirror and feels beautiful!

The Products - and in just 18 days of using the products myself, I've seen an incredible transformation in my own skin tones. The redness is fading and I have beautiful healthy skin beaming through! I LOVE it! I feel prettier! If nothing else, this whole business has given me a new sense of self confidence!

I love my new business. I'm not sure I'll ever be a pink Cadillac girl (PLEASE don't tell my director I said that)..I'm honestly not really interested in driving a PINK car - EW! My first question was..."Can I paint it white if I ever reach that level?" =) Who knows where this will go, all I can say that I am excited at the opportunities and so glad to have a job!
