Flash Back to May 2011
Hello friends! I know, I know, you thought you would NEVER hear from me again. Well, you don't get off so easy. ;) Life has just been swamped the last several months and I feel like I am finally coming up for air. Here's a few things that have happened in the month of....MAY.
May 23 - I entered the last year of my roaring 20's! It's funny turning 29 because everyone hypes up the dread of 30 coming. Between me and you though, I don't really see what the big deal is. This year for my birthday my sweet husband bought me a lovely dress and a pair of rocking chairs for my front porch! Now we can rock like a little old couple as we watch the sun set over our neighbor's rooftop. We celebrated a fantastic evening at Cheesecake Factory (of course I wore my new dress) and topped the night off with dreaming of our trip to NYC. Oh, and I got a job on my birthday. After 3 months of waiting, that was awesome news to get AND on my birthday! Happy Birthday to me!
3 Days later...Shaun and I took our first trip to NYC together. I LOVED it! We both did. I think I could label our first family vacation as "The Trip of Dreams Come True". This probably sounds a little bit silly, but my most favorite moment was flying into NYC and flying right over Lady Liberty! I know....you're thinking, "Um HELLO it's NYC and that was your favorite part???" But seriously it was. I have dreamed of that moment since I was a little kid (since before I knew NYC had more than a great lady standing in a harbor) and there she was as large as life...or well, actually from the air about the size of a needle, but that's ok. It was a breath taking moment and my husband chuckled at me frantically digging for my camera. =)
We were there for 6 days with my sister and her husband and got to see a lot of what the city had to offer. China town for some crazy fish markets and the most authentic Chinese food I've ever had, Little Italy for honestly the BEST ever canoli and dinner, CBS studio tour, NY pizza! hours spent in art and history museums, exploring Central Park, eating off street vending carts, I even bought a purse from a street vendor, visiting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, a cruise touring the city sky line, shops on 5th Ave. where we only looked and didn't touch...and I got to see Wicked on Broadway!!! Seriously, people, it was a dream come true!!
