4 Months Later
Hello friends! I'm not even sure if anyone reads this blog anymore, but on the off chance that someone out there is just dying to know what's been going on lately, I figured I'd humor you. ;)
We've had a lot of family times to celebrate since Charlotte arrived in our family, so here's a quick glimpse.
Mother's Day: Was precious! We didn't do anything or even go anywhere seeing as we were only a few weeks into this parenting thing, but my goodness was it so sweet to celebrate the day with my sweet punkin all snuggled up with me. Shaun surprised me with diamond earrings. I never saw that coming and my mouth nearly hit the floor when I opened them. So so sweet!
Father's Day: Was equally wonderful. I really don't think Shaun and I ever realized how fun those days actually are for the parents. (We are SO sorry to both sets of our parents - woops!) Of course Charlotte is too little to do any kind of planning on her own, but I made a picture book called "My Daddy & Me" of all 2.5 months of life Shaun and Charlotte have lived together. If ever you're over and would like to see it, let me know. We're happy to share!
Our 3rd Anniversary: Three years has FLOWN by! I know I say this every year, but it's always true...I LOVE being Shaun's wife. I couldn't imagine being married to anyone else. In my book, that man hung the moon. Three years in still finds us snuggling on the couch together, loving married life, we've visited 3 foreign countries together and have officially become a family of 3.
Our celebration plans for the Anniversary got high jacked. Much to our chagrin we misplaced a $50 gift card to a really nice restaurant down town Atlanta and have YET to find it. So there I stood in my pretty dress, hair half done, Shaun in his undershirt and slacks and we mournfully decided at the very last minute to cancel our fabulous dinner plans and go the frugal route of bowling and Olive Garden. We still had a blast and STILL can not figure out where that darn card got off to.
Shaun's 33rd Birthday: I had all these glorious plans that went down the drain. Shaun and I are both in very busy seasons at work, so taking time off is almost impossible or at the very least, imprudent. I decided to spring for it though and got both of us off for a half day (Shaun had no idea) on his b-day. Why? Because the Ga Aquarium will let you in for free on your actual b-day and I thought it would be such a fun family outing. Well, to make a very long story short, after all the hoop jumping, finagling, surprise planning etc. we get ourselves down to the aquarium and find that it had closed RIGHT as we walked up for a private event. Instant tears for me and laughter for Shaun. I'm glad he thought it was funny, but boy was I heart broken. We packed up, headed home, couldn't think of anything to do (because I had canceled our sitter AND dinner reservations), so we ended up at Sonic at 8pm for dinner and that was the only thing that happened for him on his actual birthday. WORST WIFE EVER AWARD goes to me! ;) No worries...we did a complete birthday re-do last weekend.
Mini Mountain Vacation: We took Charlotte to meet her Aunt Sherry and cousins in North Carolina recently. They LOVED her and she loved them! It was such a sweet time to spend with my sister(s) (can't leave Amanda out, she'll be sad) and their kids. Charlotte traveled very well and despite a lot of noise in the house (6 boys) she slept like a champ for the most part.
Facebook: Yep, it's getting a worthy mention. I got off Facebook about a month ago. My life was just getting way too "noisy" and I found that I wasn't spending time with my sweet family like I wanted to. Instead I was spending countless hours in the evenings browsing my way through the nonsense. Let's be honest....85% of what is put on FB is pointless, but it's so fun to see that my friends kids had a fun time at Chick Fil A. I discovered a lot about myself that I'm going to share in a future post...so stay tuned. For right now though, just know I am coming back on FB REALLY soon.
Last, but certainly never least -
CHARLOTTE! is the delight and joy of our lives. I think Shaun and I constantly stand over her in awe of some new trick she's performing or noise she is making. She is four months old now, she coo's, rolls over, "talks" to anyone who will listen, smiles with her whole face, laughs, reaches, grabs, plays with sunglasses and necklaces, loves sleeping with her lovies (it varies between "Sir Ted" the teddy bear or her blanket lovie from Aunt Sherry) she knows Mommy and Daddy by voice and by sight...I could go on and on. I realize that everything she is doing is what all babies her age do, but for some reason when it's your own kid, it's 10,000,000 xs more precious.
That's it for now. I'll add in some picture later when I get the chance.
