Sabbatical 2016! (Week One)
In the weariness that was 2015 and even the spring of 2016, one of our anthems was "Sabbatical 2016." There was something about knowing this season of rest was coming that kept enough wind in our sails to survive the craziness.
My husband works for an amazing company that puts a high value on not just its employees, but also the families of the people that work for them. One of the benefits that BrightLink offers is an additional three weeks of vacation for the purpose of a sabbatical at the completion of your seventh year of employment. This was Shaun's year! He has worked so hard to provide for our family, to help grow a company and manage a team and I could not be more proud of him! I also couldn't be more grateful to BrightLink for loving our family so well and allowing us this much needed and life giving time to unplug, rest, recover, have fun, pour into each other, and just be a family.
We decided to spend our first week at the beach for some much needed time to just play and bond with our kids away from the demands of life. No therapy, no school, no work!
We were blessed by the Pinion family with an offer that we couldn't refuse! They allowed us to use their lovely beach home on Fripp Island and we made many beautiful memories that we will cherish forever! A special thank you to Alli for making all the arrangements! We are so grateful for you and will always look back on our time at Fripp as a highlight in our lives!
Some of my favorite memories include: watching the kids build sand castles just so they could knock them down, driving the golf cart all over the island playing Pokemon Go (who knew our whole family would get into that game!?!), snuggling to watch movies during a tropical storm, watching my children soak in the majesty of the ocean, and having no other demand than to simply be with my family.
This week at the beach changed my perspective of travel with littles. I was of the mindset that family vacation wouldn't be fun with littles. I think that could still be true depending on the type of trip You plan, but, you guys, this was awesome! We had so much fun and I truly can't wait to do it again!
If you are friends with me on social media, be sure to check out our beach pictures and see what all we were up to during our trip.
